Welcome to the official Facebook page of the University of Queensland ALP Club. One of UQ's oldest and most established clubs.
The UQ ALP Club is one of UQ's most established student clubs. This club is based on the tenets of an evolving Labor Party and is designed to bring students together from all walks of life by hosting a variety of entertaining political and social events.
The club exists to provide a forum for the discussion of inclusive and democratic ideologies and policies, and offers critical support for both Labor Governments and candidates, and broader progressive social and political movements. The Club hopes to give its members opportunities to hone their skills in speaking and administration, broaden their understanding of the political process and generally to have a fun time with like-minded individuals! Hoping that the understanding will soon dawn: Politics is what you make - So be loyal, be patient, and be passionate!
As we are a group of university students, we definitely recognise that people often assume that politics is BOTH dry and boring. However, our club is very focused on abolishing this stereotype, emphasising that politics can be FUN. Take Note, our philosophy is party hard.... study enough to pass but most of all bring an open mind - because like anything in life, this group is what you make it!
